Welcome!

The AfricaMuseum has a network of libraries at its disposal, consisting of a Research and Documentation Centre (previously known as the Central Library) and numerous specialised sub-libraries, housed according to discipline in the different departments and sections of the museum.
The Sub-Saharan part of the African continent is thus represented by various disciplines. These disciplines are: cultural antropology and history (ethnography, archaeology and prehistory, ethnosociology and ethnohistory, linguistics, musicology, colonial history and contemporary history), biology (vertebrates, entomology, invertebrates, wood biology and agricultural economy) and earth sciences (geology and mineralogy).

The reading room of the Research and Documentation Centre is housed in the CAPA building, Leuvensesteenweg 17, 3080 Tervuren and is open by appointment only.

Want to know more about visiting our reading room? Be sure to check out Make an Appointment on the museum website.
